We went from a very passive day yesterday, to a very active day today!!
We started with a trip to town to use the ATMs and look around. You may want to check your bank accounts, as I believe some students used savings instead of checking. Language barrier.
But the cards worked for everyone!! The group we are traveling with had some issues, so I think we were lucky!
After a short stop in town, we went to Lake Arenal for a little kayaking adventure. We had great weather, and everyone did really well. No one fell in the water!! We returned to our hotel/cabins for lunch and then we were off again. This time we went to the waterfall. We started at the top and walked down to the pools. The kids all had a good time swimming and were amazed at the very tall waterfall. The hike up didn´t seem to bother most of the students, but let me tell you, I was tired!!
From there we went to the hotsprings. A very enjoyable couple of hours. They were able to try different pools of varying temperatures. I think most everyone enjoyed it, but i heard more about the waterfall then the hotsprings.
We then drove to a look out to try and see the lava from the volcano, but unfortunately, it was too cloudy.
Tomorrow we leave for Monteverde and the cloud forest!
Oh, and they were so sad when they realized we were going kayaking instead of first hour today!!
